Crab legs were tasty with a hint of sweetness and easy to crack and get meat out. I didn't opt for the lobster tails for the extra $10 but may consider next time.

Senate approves casino compact with Gun Lake tribe

Jennifer Granholm and the Gun Lake tribe for revenue from a proposed casino.WAYLAND TOWNSHIP -- What may be the final regulatory hurdle for a planned tribal casino was cleared Wednesday when the state Senate approved a revenue-sharing compact.
The deal between the state and the Gun Lake Band of Pottawatomi calls for the state to receive 8 percent of the casino's take from slot machines for the first 0 million.
The state will get 10 percent or more from slot revenue above that amount.
Local units of government will receive 2 percent of the slot machines' net take.
The deal is expected to pump millions of dollars into state coffers and bolster local revenue to help pay for infrastructure improvements and other projects.
James Nye, a spokesman for the tribe, said the Senate's approval fulfills the tribe's long-time wish to come to a revenue sharing deal with the state.
The state House and Gov. Jennifer Granholm approved the compact in 2007.
'It's been the tribe's preference from day one to enter into a compact agreement with the state so that the tribe can share revenues with the local community and maximize the number of jobs and economic opportunities that the casino will create for everyone to enjoy,' Nye said.
At least two West Michigan senators said they opposed the resolution, which was passed in a voice vote.
'While the casino may add jobs in the short-term future, we have to weigh that benefit against the long-term economic and social costs to West Michigan,' said Sen. Wayne Kuipers, R-Holland. 'I understand my stance may be unpopular with some of my constituents, but I feel it's prudent to also consider the long-term
impact this may have on the surrounding communities in West Michigan.'
Sen. Patty Birkholz, R-Saugatuck, who represents Wayland Township, also was among the minority yelling 'nay' as the votes were cast.
'I think it's a sad day for Michigan, but even sadder for the greater West Michigan area,'she said. 'What we're doing is encouraging a negative business model at a time when the state is struggling that is basically going to cannibalized business from other areas of our community.'
The tribe expects to announce a time frame for construction and hiring within a few weeks.
Nye said the tribe is not concerned about a potential bankruptcy of Las Vegas, Nev.-based Station Casinos, which the tribe has signed a deal with to manage the 0 million Gun Lake Casino. The casino is expected to employ more than 1,200 people.
Nye said the tribe has no plans to open a temporary casino at one of the two buildings already on its 137-acre reservation.
The casino was made possible when the federal government Jan. 30 took the former Ampro Products plant and surrounding land into trust for the tribe, also known as the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi.
Michigan will have 24 casinos once the Gun Lake casino and another, the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of Potawatomi Indians' FireKeeper Casino in Emmett Township east of Battle Creek, are built.
Only Nevada has more casinos, according to critics.
The compact requires gamblers to at least 21 years old at the Gun Lake casino. Compacts with other tribes operating Michigan casinos have a minimum age of 18 years old.
